I’ll be the first to admit I am a 4130 movement super fan. In my mind the greatest modern movement will always be the 4130. That is the be all, end all Rolex show of their first in-house chronograph movement. To me it was so ahead of its time and built in an era of a different Rolex company. The "best" chrono movement I ever had was in an Omega SMP 2225.80 (cal 1164 - which is a modified V7750)- it was dead flat accurate for 6 months + - 0 (and kept that same variance when I ran the chrono for 2 weeks straight just to screw with it). "best" Rolex movement I've ever had was a 30 year old 1570 in a TT 1601 - same accuracy. Not completely true the only main difference is the power-reserve by making the spring-barrel much thinner that the 31 series movements. And service even with the 31 series is now the same around 10 years depending on use, and movement is no more durable than any Rolex movement made in the past 40 plus years. _____ Rolex has made some great watches in the past and as long as you stick to watches with movements that don't have a 32 in the front of their designator, you will be just fine Reading your post I gather you may be on the same page as I have been for a number of months, in that you have a theory as to the root cause of the problem.
Although Rolex and many others make very fine movements,over the many years there have been quite a few mediocre in-house movements from a few Swiss brands.There is a misconception with ETA now in most of there movements they make 5 grades the two top chronometer grade can be as accurate and long lasting as any other Swiss made watch.Fact .

I doubt Rolex cares. I doubt most “normal” customers even notice. Most people don’t even know what models they have and don’t go about checking its accuracy. I don’t understand why this is so hard for Rolex to rectify though.
